An air pump is an essential part of Hydroponics, especially in a Deep Water Culture (DWC) system. In a DWC system the cannabis plants roots are submerged into nutrient filled water, the air pump then transports the oxygen to the diffuser in the water source/reservoir and then the diffuser breaks down the oxygen into tiny air bubbles that the plants root system can absorb easier than if there was not an air pump present.
